JANE ELLEN SWAN is a retired travel agent who has long been fascinated by history.  Stories from her German grandmother led to genealogical research and the writing of this book.  

The valedictorian of her graduating class from Baldwin High School, the author also attended Adelphi College and the Juilliard School of Music, both in New York.  Ms.  Swan currently lives in Florida and Massachusetts, where she enjoys writing, gardening, collecting stamps and until recently was director of her church choir.
